There are two sources of adhesions (scars) from surgery:
- The procedure itself creates scars on the skin and in the underlying tissues.
- During the healing process, inflammation can occur, producing scar tissue.
Dermal-Fascial Restoration℠ (DFR℠) has been very effective in rapidly reducing scar tissue and associated discomfort while improving its appearance.
Scar tissue can have a more serious effect beyond the cosmetic issues. The process that caused the scar tissue to form on the skin can also create scar tissue that is not seen – the adhesive scar tissue in the connective layers (fascia). This can extend far from the original scar and create symptoms that patients continue to experience in seemingly unrelated ways in nearby body parts.

Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Injuries
Why does the ACL tear and is there anything that you could have done to prevent the tear?
The tear occurs when too much force is applied to the ligament either through movement or through a direct hit. A person cannot accurately predict if and when a tear will happen, but they can help prevent tears. Making sure that the muscles in the core, hip and legs all work together and efficiently will decrease the likelihood of an ACL injury or tear. If a tear actually occurs then physical therapy post-surgically or for those who do not have surgery is key.

One of the tell-tale signs of a discectomy is the incision left behind. Combined with this scar formation, is a lack of movement and use of the muscles in the back that can bring on stiffness and pain. Often the c-shaped disc that cushions the knee has enough damage and pain associated with it that it needs to be repaired. Most often it is the inner meniscus that is repaired but the outer meniscus can be also be affected. Depending on the procedure performed, the rehab process can vary. If the meniscus is repaired or if it is cut out, it is important to start rehab early to make sure that range of motion deficits, tissue tightness and strength deficits are kept to a minimum.
